Why we make jewellery slowly
ELM Fine Jewellery grew from a desire to slow down.
I grew up surrounded by nature, in Bouddi National Park, with much of my family life tied to Lord Howe Island. Being close to the ocean, trees, and changing light shaped how I see the world. Nothing in nature rushes, yet everything unfolds exactly as it should. That rhythm has always stayed with me.
Later, while studying jewellery in Rome, I was immersed in a very different pace of life. One rooted in tradition, patience, and deep respect for craft. I learned that making something well takes time, and that beauty often comes from restraint rather than excess.
These experiences shape how ELM pieces are made.
Each piece is designed with intention and created slowly, made to order rather than in excess. This allows space for consideration in form, material, and proportion, and ensures that every piece has a purpose before it exists.
To me, jewellery is not just decorative. It becomes part of your daily rhythm. It gathers meaning through wear, memory, and time. A quiet marker of moments, both significant and ordinary.
ELM Fine Jewellery is an invitation to slow down.
To choose pieces that feel grounding.
To honour craftsmanship, nature, and thoughtful design.
This journal is a space to share the process, the inspiration, and the slow moments that shape each piece.
